Welcome to my blog. This probably should have been my first blog post but it is what it is. My name is Jazi Dee. I am a true southerner, Alabama born and raised. I have lived in other states across the South, but Bama is my roots. As a current transplant to the beautiful, Sunshine State of Florida, I find myself homesick for the slower pace of life. Don't get me wrong: there are plenty of rural parts of Florida that are definitely part of the South. However, there are definitely areas of this beloved state where the snow birds have flown, landed, and settled the nest to be exactly like their wonderful nest from which they are escaping. Long story short, I do get homesick for the things that make life worth living. So in my writing you will see a theme: the F words. Not the bad one, the good F words that are the most important cherished attributes of southern life: food, family, faith, and most places football.

FOOD

My first blog posts were not surprisingly about food. Southern food is one of the best foods in the country. Who does not love bbq? A lot of southern social interaction revolves around food. From backyard cookouts to 5th Sunday potlucks, big holiday gatherings to small family get-togethers, southern cooking comes from the heart. Cooking for my family is one the ways I say "I love you." My son says he can taste the love in my cooking. So it comes as no surprise that I, like most southern women, gets bent outta shape if someone doesn't like my cooking.

FAMILY

I grew up in a big, beautiful extended southern family. We'va all had our up and our downs, but I would give anything just go back to one of the weekly Sunday after church get togethers at Mama and Papa's house where all the the aunts, the uncles, the cousins all came to eat, talk, sew, knit, or maybe pile up together to watch Pride and Prejudice or Papa's 3rd recorded copy of his favorite western. My intermediate family lived on a small farm. Growing up, we almost never went "out to eat", focusing on home cooked meals. My grandmother could cook up the most restaurant quality meal you have ever tasted.

FAITH

I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. If that offends you, that's unfortunate for you. I believe God loves you no matter how you may feel. I have been blessed to be the part of wonderful, loving church families as I moved across the south. My Christian upbringing is very important to the core of who I am. I am by no means a perfect Christian nor do I claim to be. I love the phrase, "I love Jesus but I cuss a little." We can all strive to live a perfect exemplary live but God knows we are humans with free will, as he made us. We can all try our best and ask for forgiveness when we fail.

FOOTBALL

Let me get back to you on that one.
